About
Nicholas Folland creates sculptures and installations from ready-made and recycled domestic objects. A confessed hoarder, he has collected thousands of crystal objects to construct fragile landscapes that hover like a mirage in space, and chandeliers that become encrusted in ice. At times he adopts the strategies of theatre to create surreal, full scale interiors that flood with water or heave with contortion in a process of gradual destruction. Maps that disorientate and boats in bottles lost at sea, he pits the human desire to explore the world against the forces of nature.
